Looking for a First Gymnastics Session? Gloworms Might Be Just the Thing

If you’ve got a little one who is confidently on the move, climbing everything in sight, and treating your sofa like a personal obstacle course, you might be wondering when structured activities start to make sense.

Not formal classes.

Not drop and run.

Just something gentle, fun, and designed for small people who are still figuring things out.

That’s exactly what our Gloworms sessions are for.

What actually happens in a Gloworms session?

Gloworms sessions are designed for competent walkers up to the age of 4, and they are very much a shared experience for children and their parents or carers.

Each 45 minute session starts with a musical action warm up, led by our coaching team, which helps children settle in, join in, and start moving together. No pressure to do it perfectly, joining in at your own pace is absolutely fine.

After that, the gym opens up for free play on the apparatus, giving children the chance to climb, crawl, balance, explore, and move in ways they might not get to anywhere else.

We finish with a short song to bring things to a calm close, and every child gets a hand stamp and a star chart, which tends to be taken very seriously by the children involved.

Who are Gloworms sessions for?

Gloworms sessions are ideal if:

  • your child is a confident walker

  • you want a gentle introduction to gymnastics

  • you like being involved rather than watching from the sidelines

  • you want a safe space for your child to explore movement

They’re also a lovely option if you’re not quite ready for a fully independent class, or you just want to see how your child responds to the gym environment first.

Siblings are welcome during half term and school holidays, which can make life a little easier too.

Session details and pricing

Gloworms sessions are:

  • 45 minutes long

  • £5.00 per child

  • £4.00 per sibling

  • Adults and siblings under 6 months are free

We also offer a reduced rate of £4.00 per child for Childminders or TAMBA members, with proof of registration on arrival.

Spaces are limited to 25 children per session, so advance booking is essential, and please remember to complete one booking form per child.

A few practical things to know before you come

To help sessions run smoothly, there are a few things to be aware of.

Please enter the building via the Unit 10 entrance, and leave buggies or prams outside the building.

Parents and carers must remain with their children at all times, as children are entirely your responsibility throughout the session.

All parents, carers, and children will be asked to sanitise their hands on entry, and if your child needs a drink or snack during the session, we ask that this is done in the seating area.

Once you’ve booked, payment is required either by bank transfer, details are included in your confirmation email, or by card payment during your session. Payments are non refundable and non transferable.

Is Gloworms a good stepping stone to classes?

Yes, very much so.

Gloworms sessions help children:

  • become familiar with the gym environment

  • build confidence moving on equipment

  • listen to simple instructions

  • feel comfortable in a structured but relaxed setting

For many families, Gloworms is the perfect first step before moving on to independent preschool gymnastics when their child is ready.

Gloworms sessions are not about rushing children into classes or expecting anything from them.

They’re about exploring movement, building confidence, and having fun together, in a safe and supportive space.
