Looking for Summer Holiday Activities? Here's What's Coming Up at Wickers This Summer

If you've got school-aged children, there's a good chance you've already had at least one of those conversations.

You know the one.

The summer holidays are still a few weeks away, but somehow your child has already started asking what exciting things are planned. Meanwhile, you're looking at the calendar, wondering how six weeks can feel both wonderfully full of possibilities and slightly terrifying at the same time.

Because let's be honest, summer holidays are brilliant.

There are family days out, ice creams that melt faster than anyone can eat them, late bedtimes that seem like a good idea at the time, and opportunities to make some genuinely lovely memories.

There are also mornings where you've barely finished your first cup of tea before somebody announces they're bored.

The challenge isn't that children need entertaining every minute of every day. Most of the time, they simply need something exciting to look forward to. A chance to be active, spend time with friends, try something different and come home with stories to tell.

That's exactly why we've put together a range of summer holiday activities here at Wickers Gymnastics.

Whether your child already attends the club or has never visited before, we've got plenty happening throughout the holidays.

School's Out For Summer

If your child loves variety, this might be the perfect way to kick off the holidays.

Taking place on Thursday 30th July from 9.00am until 12.00pm, our School's Out For Summer session is open to both club and non-club members aged 4 years and above.

Rather than focusing solely on gymnastics, we've packed the morning with all sorts of summer fun. There'll be games, arts and crafts, a summer treasure hunt, plenty of fun in the foam and lots of opportunities to make new friends and burn off some energy.

Children will also take home a small treat bag and their arts and crafts creations at the end of the session, which tends to be far easier to fit in the car than a foam pit.

£22 per child

Children will need a small nut-free snack and plenty to drink.

Summer Holiday Fun - Three Days Packed With Activities

If one day of activities doesn't sound like enough, we've got three full days planned in August.

Our Summer Holiday Fun programme runs from 9.00am until 4.00pm and is suitable for children aged 4 years and above. Families can choose to book one day, two days or all three, with discounts available for multiple bookings.

Each day has its own mix of activities, giving children something different to look forward to.

Monday 10th August

The week begins with arts and crafts, parachute games, obstacle courses, den building and free play in the gym.

Tuesday 11th August

Expect arts and crafts, fun in the foam, tower building, team races, floor and vault activities, plus plenty of musical games.

Wednesday 12th August

The final day includes arts and crafts, summer garden games, den building, treasure hunts and activities focusing on bars.

Across all three days, children will enjoy access to gymnastics equipment, soft play, games, challenges and lots of opportunities to stay active and have fun.

Activities may vary slightly if needed, but our aim remains the same, helping children have an active, memorable and enjoyable summer holiday.

From £45 per day

Children will need a packed lunch, snacks and plenty to drink. Wickers operates a strict no nut policy to help keep all children safe.

Train With Your Grown Up

This might just be our most entertaining event of the summer.

If your child regularly comes home and insists on showing you every new skill they've learned, or you've ever been informed that you're not doing a forward roll properly, now is your chance to get involved.

On Thursday 20th August from 9.00am until 11.00am, children can bring along a parent, grandparent or other grown-up and enjoy a coach-led gymnastics session together.

The morning begins with a warm-up before moving onto floor, vault, bars and beam activities, all designed to be enjoyed together. The session finishes with a gentle stretch and every participant receives a certificate to take home.

Maximum of two children per adult.

It's a lovely opportunity to spend time together, have a laugh and perhaps discover muscles you haven't used since secondary school.

From £8

Planning Ahead

If you're already searching for summer holiday activities in Worthing, Lancing, Shoreham, Sompting, Southwick or the surrounding areas, now is a great time to start planning.

Holiday activities often fill more quickly than people expect once schools break up, particularly those aimed at younger children.

Whether you're looking for a few hours of fun, a full day of activities or a chance to step onto the gym floor alongside your child, we'd love to welcome you this summer.

You can find full details and booking information for all activities here:

Because while six weeks can feel like a long time at the start of the holidays, they have a remarkable habit of disappearing far faster than anyone expects.
