Ready for the Next Step in Gymnastics?

There comes a point in gymnastics where things start to feel familiar.
Handstands feel steadier, cartwheels land a bit cleaner, and suddenly what once felt tricky starts to feel… manageable. And then comes the inevitable question:
What’s next?
That’s exactly where this upcoming workshop comes in.
A Session for Gymnasts Ready to Progress
On Thursday 28th May, from 10.30am to 12.00pm, we’re running a focused session designed for children who are already confident with the basics and are ready to start building towards more advanced skills.
It’s a drop-and-go session, so once they’re in, they can fully settle into the experience without distraction, and really make the most of the time.
The aim isn’t to rush anything or push beyond what feels right, but to gently introduce the next stages in a way that feels achievable and, importantly, enjoyable.
From Cartwheels to What Comes Next
For many children, the jump from basic skills to things like round-offs, flics, and handsprings can feel like a big leap.
This session is all about breaking that down.
Rather than treating those skills as something far off in the distance, we focus on the building blocks that lead up to them, helping gymnasts understand how their current skills connect to what comes next.
It gives them a sense of direction, which can make a surprising difference to motivation.
A Bit More Focus, A Bit More Confidence
Because the session is slightly longer and more focused than a regular class, there’s time to slow things down where needed and give each gymnast the attention they need to progress.
Some will take big steps forward, others will simply feel more confident in what they’re already doing, both are equally valuable.
That’s often how progress works in gymnastics. Quietly, steadily, and sometimes without much fuss.
Open to Everyone
The workshop is open to both Wickers members and non-members, for children aged 6 and above, as long as they are already comfortable with handstands and cartwheels.
It’s a lovely way for new children to get a feel for the club, and for existing gymnasts to try something a little more focused and skill-based.
And a Little Something to Take Home
At the end of the session, each participant will receive a certificate, which always goes down well, and gives them something tangible to take away alongside everything they’ve learned.
